Do my family members obtain Greek citizenship together with me?

I heard that the children of the principal applicants in the Greek Golden Visa program will be granted citizenship automatically once the principal applicants are naturalized. Is it true? Does this rule also apply to the principal applicant's spouse?

Neither you nor your family members will automatically receive Greek citizenship with the permit of residence. The period of holding the permit (5 years) counts, but this is not enough. You need to meet other requirements, too (such as having actually lived in Greece for a certain period of time, speaking the language, etc. Law 4251/2014 art. 89). This applies to all family members.

Ιn accordance with the Greek citizenship law, the children of the third-country citizens who are naturalized acquire, without any formality, the Greek nationality under the condition that at the time of naturalization they are minors and unmarried. The above provisions are not in force for the spouse.
