From November 1st, new visas are available, including the digital nomad visa which shall now be applicable (and not D7) for remote workers that will continue their activity remotely from Portugal, earning a monthly average salary of €2.820,00.

At this moment there is a specific visa for digital nomads. Now, this category is no longer part of the D7 visa as before, but rather a specific visa. The main changes have to do with the evidence to be presented when applying for the visa, which in addition to what was known until then, has been added: average salary of 2820€ until the end of the year (2022); an average salary of 3040 euros, as of January 2023; proof of fiscal residence in Portugal; the family can apply for a visa at the same time as the main applicant.

The changes that were made to the current legal framework regarding the Digital Nomad application are meant to specify certain aspects regarding the needed requirements. However, these changes that will come into force do not apply to already submitted applications, as is your case. Therefore, your application will not be influenced by it.
