How long does the criminal record remain valid while applying for Portugal’s D7 visa?

While applying from the US for the D7 visa, how long is the FBI background check valid? I see some say 90 days, but some say 6 months. Is there an official limit?

    The criminal record is valid for 90 days for the purpose of applying for a visa/residence permit. Other documentation can be valid for 180 days.

    For Portuguese authorities, you must have an FBI background check issued within the last 90 days.
