How will my daughter’s public school enrollment affect the renewal of our Portuguese temporary residence permit?

I and my family will need to renew our Portuguese temporary resident cards in 7 months. I have two daughters (13 and 18). I don’t work in Portugal, I pay income taxes and I pay for no social security in Portugal. My oldest daughter is enrolled in a private university in Lisbon and I pay her tuition. However, my youngest is enrolled in a public school because we recently moved out of Lisbon and had to pull her out of her private school. Will this public school enrollment affect the renewal of our TRC and cause problems with SEF? How should we proceed?

Public school enrollment does not affect the renewal of TRC.

The enrolment of your youngest daughter in a public school does not interfere in any way with the renewal of your residence permits.

The teaching institution where your children are enrolled does not interfere in the least with your residence permit renewal. In what comes to the Portuguese authorities’ criteria, it does not matter if your children are enrolled in a public or private institution, as long as they are enrolled as full-time students.
