How can I obtain residency in Italy through my existing company?

I have an Italian SRL company established in 2016. However, the company currently does not have any turnover or employees. I would like to relocate to Italy, rent a warehouse and actively launch the company’s business activities. If I do that, can I get a residency permit through the company? Which category would I fall into? Do Italian laws allow for a non-EU citizen like me to get a nulla osta in this case?

You can apply for a self-employment visa as a company director (the company is active for more than 3 years) but this visa is not easy to obtain. It is subject to the availability of quotas (less than 500 for the whole of 2023) and Consulates will also look at the company's turnover, number of employees, etc. The decision on the issuance of the visa is discretionary to the Consulate, even though you obtain some clearances in Italy before the visa application.

Should the company be active, it could be evaluated the possibility for you to be hired as an employee, provided that you can comply with the minimum requirements set forth for the obtainment of an EU Blue Card (university diploma, high specialization, minimum annual gross salary of Euro 25,000, etc.).
