How can I apply for Turkish citizenship?

I am planning to move to Turkey with two small kids for school. We are also planning to purchase a small apartment, my husband cannot join us now but will send us money every month. Will I be able to apply for citizenship after 5 years of stay without working?

In case you purchase an apartment, you may obtain temporary residence permits. They could be renewed for five years and you may become eligible for a citizenship application. The fact that you not working will have no immediate impact. However, such a process is not swift even after the five years (may take another one-to-three years to resolve) and you should consider citizenship by investment options for a more guaranteed regime.

There are a few options to live in Turkey without working. You may apply for Turkish citizenship by investment. You do not need to work under insurance number to obtain citizenship if you will invest in Turkey. The first way is buy a property worth $250,000. You cannot sell the property for three years. If you sell the property, it will affect your citizenship process adversely. I advise you to take this way because it is the most convenient and affordable option for you. The second way is to deposit $500,000 in a bank in Turkey. You cannot withdraw or transfer it for 3 years. So, you can live in Turkey without working and you will get your Turkish passport at the end of your application and you will not be concerned about anything because you will live in your own property. If you prefer, you may rent the property you have bought and live in other places that suits you more. At the end of the three-year period, you may sell the property for an increased value and you may even gain financial benefit through that.
