What alternatives to the Tech Visa are there to gain residency in France?

I’ve been considering moving to Southern France, namely Aix-en-Provence. I am retired but have sufficient funds to support my family and purchase property. I have only been able to find info on the French tech visa. Is there a more “traditional” way of investing in France to gain residency? Is there an immigration option for foreign homeowners?

If you are a foreigner and a pensioner, you can obtain a residence card mentioning pensioner, under certain conditions. Your spouse may obtain a residence permit for the spouse of a pensioner if he or she has resided legally: Situation of a foreigner in possession of documents authorizing him or her to remain on French territory with you in France. You are eligible if you meet all the following conditions: (i) you are a foreigner, (ii) you have resided in France with a resident card (resident card or long-term resident card - EU or former ordinary resident card of 3 years or privileged 10 years), (iii) you have established (or are establishing) your habitual residence abroad, (iv) you receive a retirement pension from a French basic social security scheme. This residence permit does not allow you to bring your family to France. However, your husband or wife may obtain a residence permit for the spouse of a pensioner if he or she has resided legally: Situation of a foreigner in possession of documents authorizing him or her to remain on French territory with you in France. This card allows him/her to enter France at any time for stays of up to 1 year without having to apply for a visa. But the card does not change the country of residence.
