What investment immigration options are available in Australia to applicants who are above 60?

I've heard that investors need to be younger than 55 in order to apply for business and investor visas in Australia. If money is not the problem for an applicant, what investment immigration options are available to those above 60 who want to eventually move with their family to Australia?

The 188C Significant Investor visa stream has no age limit, but requires an investment of $5 million into complying investments. However it is possible to migrate to Australia and invest a smaller amount in the 188A and 188B categories in certain states. Most states and territories offer the option of making a higher investment amount for applicants over 55 which is of "exceptional economic benefit" to that state or territory. The amount required will differ from state to state. For example, South Australia will consider applicants who are aged.

Subclass 188 (Significant Investor) stream is the best option for investor visa requiring 5 million Australian dollars in complying investments in Australia across a portfolio of specified investment types. It is to be held during the duration of the subclass 188 which can be between 3-5 years, depending on when you apply and receive the grant for the permanent resident visa subclass 888. You are eligible to apply for 888 after holding the investments for 3 years under subclass 188, but you are obligated to hold the investments until such time that you are granted your permanent residence. The other streams would require the applicant to be under 55 years of age to apply. There are certain states that would impose heavier investment obligation options for persons above the age limit of 55.

The best option for you would be the subclass 188, Significant Investor Stream. This pathway has no age limit but requires an investment of 5 million Australian dollars in approved funds. If you run your own business, some states have an "age waiver" provision that would allow you to apply for a business visa with additional investment requirements.

There are four streams of investment migration visas to Australia under subclass 188. For the Business Innovation Stream, Investor Stream and Entrepreneur Stream, you must be under 55 years of age. If you are aged 55 or older, a state or territory could invite you to apply for this visa if your business is of exceptional economic benefit. For the Significant Investor Stream, there is no upper age limit. Therefore, persons over 55 years are able to apply for the Significant Investor visas.
