Do I have to become a citizen of the Cayman Islands if I want to register my company here?

I am considering registering my new business in the Cayman Islands. I have not decided whether I want to apply for citizenship or not, but if that is a requirement for company registration or if there are any benefits of registering a company as a citizen, I am open to the idea. What is the best option for my case?

If you are proposing to register an existing company (for example, a U.S. LLC) as a foreign company in the Cayman Islands, there is no requirement that you need any prior form of residency. A typical example is registering an LLC for the purposes of purchasing and holding Cayman Islands land or real estate. However, if you are looking to reside either part-time or full-time in the Cayman Islands and work for or from your registered foreign or locally incorporated company, regardless of whether you are servicing a local or overseas market/clients, you will fall within the parameters of the Cayman immigration and licensing laws. Bespoke advice is required for your specific situation.
