Have appointments been delayed for the Greek Golden Visa program?

I am reading online about things getting backed up in Athens and other municipalities through 2021. What is happening? If I apply now through a real estate investment in Athens, will it take two years?

The Greek residency program is relatively fast, taking around 40 days until a resident card is issued. There is no other delay to the proceedings for obtaining a Greek Golden Visa.

Please be aware that lately due to the high volume of petitions for Golden Visa, there are serious delays for appointments, depending the region. I believe, though, that soon this problem will be solved.

You can apply to another immigration office outside of Athens. You can have an appointment during the summer.

No, this is not true. Only in central immigration offices of Attica are significantly delayed.

This is due to the fact of the ever-increasing number of third-country nationals applying for a resident investor's permanent resident permit and, in large urban centers, there being a long time waiting for the claims to be considered in view of the volume of the cases of the competent services and Immigration of Decentralized Administrations are required to manage. In order to regulate the specific issue of the local authorities responsible for issuing the permanent investor resident permits and to protect the credibility and prestige of the program, the Greek government has recently issued a governmental decision. According to this, the applications for the granting and renewal of the permanent resident permit of an investor referred to in Article 20 per No 4251/2014, as in force, can be filed in any one-stop service of Aliens Directorates and Immigration of Decentralized Administrations of the country. This helps the whole problem of delays with investors' applications, since the appointments in other cities are given in short time than Athens. In any case, this situation is temporary and is scheduled to be arranged effectively within the current year.
