How can foreign nationals with mental illness apply for the Greek Golden Visa?

I want to apply for a Greek Golden Visa and take my 24-year-old son with me. He has a mental illness. I was told that I could not include him in my petition even if he is financially and emotionally dependent on me. Attorneys suggest that my son apply for the program as the principal applicant, with me being his dependent. Could an applicant with mental illness apply? Will his health condition be an issue?

In order to reply this, we need to know the exact status of the illness, like if he can sign anything, etc.

It is right that you cannot include your son in your petition even if he is financially and emotionally dependent. But an individual with mental illness can purchase and apply. If he is represented by you and he is not able to enter into a contract, then you need to show/prove that you represent him.

What you need to do is to apply first for yourself for the GV. Once you have it issued, then you apply to bring your family members, no matter the situation of your son. All family members of a V holder are eligible for a GV of their own. Second scenario of having your son first taking the GV is not possible.

In order to reply to this more accurately, we need to know the exact status of the illness, like if he can sign anything, etc. But in general legal provisions, an individual with mental illness can purchase and apply for Golden Visa if he is represented legally and this can be proved through a valid power of attorney. In this case your son could be the main investor and his parents could be granted Golden Visa benefits as his family members.
