How could a previous visa rejection to the U.K. impact my ability to participate in the CBI programs of Cyprus?

I learned that the recent changes to the CBI program of Cyprus disqualifies applicants who have been rejected by another EU member country to apply for the program. I was rejected a tourist visa by the U.K. two years ago due to a mistake on my application form. I corrected it and my second application was approved. Could this record impact my ability to participate in the CBI program of Cyprus?

According to the regulations, together with your application for citizenship under the CBI program, you need to submit also a copy of the Schengen visa as well as a declaration stating whether you have submitted any citizenship applications to any other member-state(s) of the European Union. Now, if you don't hold a valid Schengen visa, you will not be able to submit an application under the program. The fact that you have been rejected a tourist visa by the U.K. two years ago, we do not foresee that this could potentially create problems to an application under the CBI program given that your second application was approved and since it did not involve an application for citizenship but merely a tourist visa.

The rejection for the visa has no importance to the application for the Cyprus Investment Program. It is only relevant if you have been rejected for a passport from another country.

It would impact your passport application in a negative way.

This is provided now by the new measure.

Since there was a mistake on your application and you corrected it, and then your visa was approved, that should not constitute a problem to your CBI application.
