How has the Belt and Road Initiative influenced the investment behaviors of Chinese funds?

We have heard a lot about the Belt and Road Initiative of China and the possibility of restricting outbound investments unless they are along the Belt and Road regions. Have you seen any investment changes of Chinese funds caused by the Belt and Road Initiative? What are Chinese funds focusing on now?

I have seen a decline in Chinese investment in the United States. Sales by investors such as HNA and Anbang are publicized. There is a fall-off in sales of residential units. The initiative was launched in 2013. While I believe that some Chinese investors look at infrastructure and similar investments, CIFIUS does provide a pushback. Sheri Chromow

Yes, we have seen restrictions with regards to outbound capital from China to the United States and also western Europe. We are further seeing traction on other forms of investments from China within the One Belt, One Road initiative. The only way we can deploy capital for any sector of real estate is if the funds being invested are coming from Hong Kong. Otherwise, it is a bit challenging.
