What happens to my Maltese citizenship if I divorce from the primary applicant?

My family applied for the Maltese citizenship-by-investment program with my husband being the primary applicant. Now we are living in Malta with the residency cards, but our citizenship has yet to be granted. If I divorce my husband, would I still be eligible for a Maltese citizenship? Do I have to wait until a passport is issued?

No, if you divorce from the main applicant during the application process, you will lose the entitlement for the passport.

If the divorce happens during the application, the spouse will need to apply on her own. If, on the other hand, the divorce happens after the passport has been issued out, you will still retain her Maltese citizenship.

If you divorce your husband, you won't be eligible for a Maltese citizenship as his dependent. You need to wait until the passport is issued.
