When do I have to prove my English language skill under U.K. tier 1 entrepreneur visa?
I am a Singapore national and I am considering applying for the U.K. tier 1 entrepreneur visa. English is extensively used in Singapore and my current working language is English. Do I still need to prove my language proficiency?

Yes, you must meet the English language requirement. There are a number of ways of doing this.

As part of the tier 1 (E) application, you will need to prove knowledge of English language at level B1 CEFR. Singapore is not a "majority English-speaking country" for the application purposes; therefore a certificate from an approved provider will be required when you apply.

As Singapore is not listed as a majority English-speaking country in the U.K. immigration rules, you will have to either provide evidence of a degree taught in English or that you have passed an English-language test. There are also further requirements and additional evidence required regarding the degrees, as not all degrees taught in English are recognized under the U.K. immigration rules.

The English requirement is applicable for Singapore nationals, as the Home Office does not consider it to be a majority English-speaking country. You will need to either take an English-language test recognized by the Home Office or have an academic qualification that was taught in English and is recognized by U.K. NARIC.
