Cyprus urged to create tougher policies

The Council of Europe’s anti-money laundering body Moneyval today released a report where it urged Cyprus to increase its process to prevent money laundering from criminal proceeds generated outside of Cyprus. Moneyval points out the risk in the real estate sector since Cyprus has a popular investment choice to acquire citizenship under the Cyprus Investment Program. The group has invited Cyprus to report back at its first plenary in 2021.
