Does the business management experience accumulated by managing online retail shops qualify for Quebec’s immigrant investor program?

I understand that to participate in the Quebec Immigration Investor Program, applicants are required to have at least two years of full-time business management experience in the past five years. I own an online retail shop on Alibaba.com, a global trading platform similar to Amazon. I have been running this shop for six years and working in the role of a manager. Since establishing a virtual shop online is different from opening a brick-and-mortar shop, I am wondering if such experience is acceptable for the program.

Yes, this experience can be counted provided that you do have more than two full-time employees and that you manage duties related to the planning, management and control of financial, human or material resources.

There would be a need for tweaking it the right way, but in the end it should normally be acceptable. Alibaba is world famous, which should play in your favor. Just make sure your immigration lawyer is well experienced and "street wise."

You need to have a legal entity to qualify as a commercial enterprise. Taobao shops, WeChat accounts or Alibaba shops usually don't have a business license.
