How can I be among the new permanent residents Canada is seeking?

Can you tell me more about this plan for Canada to admit 300,000 permanent residents this year? Will it be through a special work visa or current programs?

Actually, there have been some significant updates to those numbers recently. While Canada previously set different targets, the 2026–2028 Immigration Levels Plan has recalibrated them toward "sustainable growth." For 2026, Canada is now seeking to admit 380,000 permanent residents (PRs). While this is higher than the 300,000 you mentioned, the focus has shifted heavily toward Economic Class immigrants, who will make up the largest share of this target.
