How can I run my own business in Malta as an applicant of the Global Residence Program?

Based on my understanding of it, Malta’s Global Residence Program is like a retirement visa program where applicants need to have income remitted to Malta. I am wondering if it is possible to run a business and generate income as an applicant. I will still have foreign income remitted to Malta and meet the other requirements.

Malta source income would be subject to taxation at progressive tax rates, which go up to 35 percent. The annual minimum remittance criteria to qualify for the global residency program would still need to be honored.
