How could dependents keep status in the UK Tier 1 investor visa when they age out?

I want to apply for the UK Tier 1 investor visa and invest 2 million euros in UK government bonds. My son is currently 17 years old. When he reaches 18 years old, does he have to invest in the program of his own again to keep his status?

In order to qualify for a tier 1 investor visa, an applicant is required to invest 2 million pounds rather than euros. Any dependent child under the age of 18 who meets other requirements can apply in line with the main applicant for the initial grant of leave. As long as they continue to meet other requirements as a dependent child, they can extend their leave or apply indefinite leave to remain in line with the main applicant after three years and five years.

He can apply for entry clearance as your child up until the age of 18 and then extend this inside the U.K., even though he has turned 18 in that time.

Once the child obtains a visa as your dependent, it is possible to extend it, even when he/she is over 18 years old, subject to certain conditions (such as the child should not be living an independent life and not having formed an independent family unit).

In response, please note that the investment needs to be 2 million pounds and not euros. If you apply for your son to be a dependent before he turns 18, then on extension they will still recognize him as a dependent and he will not need to do his own independent application.

If your son enters the U.K. as your dependent son (under 18), then he can still continue as a dependent in the U.K. under the same route, even if he ages out. When he is over 18, he can extend his visa and then apply for settlement in the same way as your dependent son, but you would need to show he is still dependent on you. You will need to show he is not leading an independent life, is not married and is still mentally and financially dependant on you.
