How many times can digital nomads renew their Nomad Residence Permits?

I’m a digital nomad based in Hong Kong and I would like to move to Malta using the new scheme for people like me. My plan is to initially stay for a year or two, but if I really like it, I might think about staying for three years. Is there a limit to the number of times one can renew this permit?

As per the Residency Malta Agency FAQs, a Malta Nomad Residence Permit will be issued for one year and can be renewed upon application at the discretion of Residency Malta Agency, if the applicant still meets the set eligibility criteria. A Malta Nomad Residence Permit holder may apply for renewal of the permit not later than one month prior to the expiry of the existing permit. At time of writing, there has been no indication of a limit on the number of renewals.
