What are the benefits of the Italian Elective Resident Visa versus the Investor Visa program in Italy?

How much do I need to invest in each program?

The elective residence visa is for non-EU nationals who want to move to Italy, not work (no working activity is allowed while in Italy) and have steady and sufficient economic resources to support themselves while in Italy. The investor visa is for non-EU nationals who want to move to Italy, invest in a company (Euro 500,000 minimum), an innovative start-up company (Euro 250,000 minimum), philanthropic project (Euro 1,000,000 minimum) or government bonds (Euro 2,000,000 minimum) and possible work in Italy as well.
