What could happen to my startup visa application amid COVID-19?

I obtained the commitment from an angel investor group to support my application for Canada’s startup visa short before the COVID-19 crisis. The global economy is going through a recession and I am worried about my application. I don’t know whether the angel investor group would make the investment as promised. I am also worried that the current economic climate might impact the performance of my startup.

Generally speaking, the Start-Up Visa Program continues despite the COVID-19, and Canadian immigration authorities keep on processing applications. This being said, your question seems case-specific, so you should enquire directly with your representative.

You do not have the obligation of results under SUV. You have the obligation to try to be successful. As long as you can prove that your business intent was more important than your immigrant intent at the moment you applied, whatever happens next is irrelevant.
