Do I need to keep the investment after the initial resident permit expires for RBI program of the Netherlands?

I would like to make an investment in a Dutch company and obtain a resident permit. I understand that the initial permit is only valid for three years. When it expires, do I need to prove the retainment of my investment in order to apply for an extension? My ultimate goal is to apply for citizenship.

The RBI permit for the Netherlands is initially valid for three years. Extension of the permit would not be allowed in case the minimum investment has been withdrawn, or the Netherlands Enterprise Agency does not or no longer deem the investment to be of added value for the Dutch economy, or the holder of the permit has been involved transactions deemed as "suspicious" by the Financial Intelligence Unit-Netherlands
