How can a US citizen stay in Cyprus for 6 months a year without having to become a tax resident?

I’m American and my boyfriend is Cypriot. I’m planning to stay with him for 6 months a year and then he would come stay with me in the US for 6 months as we both work remotely. I have two questions, how can I stay in Cyprus for more than 3 months at once without having to get a residence permit, and second, if I get a Cypriot residence permit will I have to pay taxes there?

Unfortunately, you will need to obtain a visitor visa for more than 3 months, or obtain a work visa. Residence permit in Cyprus does not automatically make you a tax resident.

Staying for 6 consecutive months would not be possible without a residence permit. By getting a residence permit you are not automatically deemed to become a tax resident - tax residency depends on the number of days in the country among other factors.
