How does the special endorsement work in the points test of Australia?

I would like to know under what circumstances would someone receive a special endorsement from the nominating state government? When applicants submit the express of interest to obtain a nomination, would they be automatically considered for a special endorsement or should a separate application be filed to the nominating state government in order to be considered for the endorsement?

The criteria for obtaining special endorsements points can vary. This will depend on the state/territory that you would like to be nominated by, i.e., where you intend to establish your business and ultimately reside. This can include the level of investment you intend to make, the employment opportunities that may be created, and the industry and business you wish to operate in.

The Skillselect EOI is your chance to present your business proposal upfront in a summarized version. So, it is important for what you are proposing to do in your business for the state that you would like to reside/do business in. A separate application for state nomination will be your chance to substantiate what you wrote in your EOI. Therefore, do not factor the points for this criteria into your total points until the state has endorsed your project at the state nomination stage. They will add the points if they deem you to be suitable. It depends largely on: First, your business proposal and whether it matches the type of businesses/industries the particular nominating state/territory is interested in. Second, the extent of investment you are proposing to make and the economic impact you are producing (i.e., export markets, employment, international markets, new technology, etc.).

With the caveat that our firm has not processed such a case before, you should consider below: It's up to you to show interest and demonstrate how you could be exceptional to the state or territory in a separate application. A tech or fintech start-up and agricultural work would be of interest at the moment.

Points for state/territory special endorsement are to be awarded if, at the time of invitation, the nominating state/territory government agency has determined that the business proposed by the applicant is of unique and important benefit to that state/territory. This is determined on a case-by-case basis.
