Can I work in another Schengen country if I have Croatia TRC card?

If I have Croatia Schengen TRC card can I work in another Schengen country? If so, where and how? Do I need to apply for a separate work permit? Is the card enough?

Temporary residence permits usually give you the opportunity to live and work only in the country that has issued the permit, i.e., in Croatia. If you change countries, you will need to obtain a work permit in another EU country.

Your residence card in Croatia only gives you the right to work and live there legally. If you want to settle in another EU Member State, you must apply for a new residence card for that specific country.

A residence permit from one EU or Schengen country does never allow for a stay in other EU countries longer than 3 months. The residence permit neither allows the holder to work in other EU or Schengen countries. This would only be possible with a work and residence permit issued by the other EU or Schengen country.

Please note that we are not experts in Croatian temporary residence permits; we can help you in Hungary. If you would like to work in Hungary, you must have a working permit issued by the Hungarian Immigration Office. You cannot use your Croatian working permit in Hungary.

Residence permits issued in other EU Member States generally do not allow their holders to work in Italy, with the exception of very specific cases and under certain conditions (EU ICTs, EU Blue Cards, etc.).
