What is the next step for my child who turned 18 during the application process for Turkish citizenship by investment?

I purchased a property back in June 2022. We lodged the application for citizenship in September 2022 and got our citizenship and passport by January 2023. During this process, my daughter, who was 17 when we filed the application for citizenship, turned 18 in Sept. 2022. We were asked to resubmit the documents for her, which we did and got the tracking number for it. It has been almost 13 months now, and when we check online, it says the documents for exceptional Turkish citizenship are being reviewed. How much longer do we need to wait? Should we pursue this by going to the directorate of immigration, etc.?

For a long time, applications for Turkish citizenship by investment were finalized in an average of 3 to 4 months, but this period is getting longer. Recently, some applications may take more than a year to be finalized. Obviously, there is not much you can do to speed up this process.

Yes, in case the dependent of an investor becomes an adult during the process for CBI, additional documentation will need to be submitted. Although 13 months could be assumed a little lengthy compared to regular CBI application processing time, averaging around 6 to 9 months, such delay is not extraordinary. It may be best to seek frequent updates and figure out, if any, missing filing or document submission (sometimes costing additional delay due to internal administrative communications) to achieve more swift resolution.
