What are the latest updates on New Zealand’s Accredited Employer Work Visa?

Has the program officially started? How can I connect with or find employers that are looking for migrants in my field (software engineer)? Do I need to be based in NZ at the time of application, or can it be completed remotely?

Since 04 July 2022, applications are being accepted for the Accredited Employer Work Visa (AEWV). You can apply for the AEWV if you have a job offer from an accredited employer, with appropriate skills and qualifications for the job. Your visa will be valid for up to 3 years if you are paid at or above the New Zealand median wage of NZD $27.76 an hour, and for up to 2 years if you are paid below the median wage. You need to search for jobs through various sources including online job search portals where employers advertise. Applications for the AEWV need to be submitted via Immigration.

You don't need to be based in NZ but you do need to find an accredited employer with approved specific job check application or employer who wants to support you and do all that is required.
