What kind of documents do I need to provide in terms of criminal records for the Greek Golden Visa program?

I am planning to apply for the Greek Golden Visa program but I could not find any information regarding the details about criminal records. I’ve been travelling a lot during the past two decades and have lived in several countries. Do I have to provide criminal records from all those countries? What are the requirements?

A criminal record certificate is not needed for the completion of the Golden Visa. Only embassies ask for that. After you enter Greece, it is not needed to any authority.

There is no need for additional documentation regarding the criminal records of the investor who applies for a permanent residency permit for property owners. The interested party must submit an application for an entry visa to the Greek consulate authority in his country of origin in order for entry in Greece and complete the necessary formalities of the procedure for property acquisition and the Golden Visa issuance. Since the investor has legally entered in Greece, there is no further documentation for criminal records needed.

A certificate of a clean criminal record issued by the relevant authority of the home country is required when you apply for a long-term visa (not a tourist, type C one, which allows you to stay in the country for up to 90 days in a six-month period). Hence, if you plan to come and stay in Greece for a longer period than 90 days in a six-month period for purchasing the real estate property, filing the application thereafter for the residency permit and arranging for a date to visit the relevant agency and provide biometric data, then you will need to obtain this long-term visa for acquiring real estate property in Greece. If you don’t plan to stay in Greece for more than 90 days, you can come with a tourist visa, which does not require you to provide a criminal record. Obviously, the above applies for the period before obtaining the residency-by-investment permit. After the resident permit is obtained you can stay in Greece without time limitations.

Right now, criminal record is optional for Golden Visa. However, no one can give you a guarantee in relation to the future.
