How much physical presence is required in Cyprus before getting a Cypriot passport?

I have learned that Cypriot residency is required before getting a passport. However, does that six months of residency mean actually being on the island? Can it be for part of that time? How much time must be spent there during the entire process of applying for the citizenship-by-investment program?

Please note that there is no need for physical presence during the passport application. Applicants need to visit Cyprus two times, once for applying a resident application and passport application, and once the passport is issued. The resident visa will be issued within a week from the application and you can authorize us to obtain it without visiting Cyprus again.

Even though there is a requirement to be a holder of a permanent residency for at least six months prior to the naturalization, there is no hard requirement in terms of actual time to be spent in Cyprus prior to getting naturalized.

The requirement of residency is transformed into a resident card holder once you apply for CIP. Then you will be eligible to have resident status and a card will be issued by exception. You need to visit Cyprus before applying for passport to fulfill and follow the passport obtainment requirements along with formalities.
