How long do I need to keep real estate for Cyprus RBI program?

If I buy property in Cyprus for the residency-by-investment fast track, how long do I have to keep it before I can sell it and keep my residency valid? Also, is it difficult to get the citizenship after 7 years?

The duration of your residency will depend on how long you will maintain your property. Once you sell the property, you will not be able to have your residency anymore. In order for you to be granted citizenship, you will need to stay in Cyprus for at least seven years (at least 183 days per year) plus one year during the final year (365 days continuously).

The residence must be kept for life and you do not have the right to sell it. To obtain the Cyprus nationality after seven years, you must be able to prove that you remained in Cyprus for 183 days per year for seven years.

The alienation of the purchased property without an immediate replacement with another property will result in the cancellation of the permit. The permanent residence must be in Cyprus and can be rented out. A citizenship application can be submitted by foreign nationals who have completed seven years of legal residency in the country prior to the date of application. In cases of aliens who are either parents or children of Cypriot citizens, the time required is five years rather than seven.
