Does a Vanuatu applicant need to travel to the country to apply for citizenship?

I am interested in citizenship but worried about the travel time and costs right now. Is it required? Can the passport be received in the mail?

Although Vanuatu is one of the most beautiful countries of the world, it is not obligatory to travel to Vanuatu to obtain citizenship and receive your passport. You can have the citizenship oath and take delivery of the passport the following ways: You travel personally to Vanuatu. You visit one of the Vanuatu embassies in Australia, Belgium or China, where the citizenship oath is taken and the passport is delivered to you. You will be expected to cover the cost of the trip of the passport delivery officer. You invite the oath officer and the passport delivery officer to a country you specify. You will be expected to cover the travel costs of both officers.

Although there is a requirement to conduct a citizenship ceremony at which the passport and citizenship certificate are handed across, it is not necessary to travel to Vanuatu for this. We regularly hold ceremonies in various locations in Asia, plus Dubai and the U.K. There is no possibility at present to receive the documents by mail.
