How can foreign investors come to Italy for the purpose of remote working?

I'm an investor based in the UK and I'm looking to set up a remote working base in Italy for myself and my partners, which we plan to use 6 months a year. Would you advise me to go for the investor visa option or the elective resident visa? Why?

The Elective Residence Visa does not allow one to work, even though there are no specific guidelines in the law if this includes remote working; the instructions given by the Italian Consulate in San Francisco about the ERV specifically indicates that remote working is not allowed. If you intend to work while in Italy, the Investor Visa is surely compliant.

If I were you, I would go for the Elective Resident Visa. This entitles you to avoid dual taxation as I assume you want to keep being based in the UK.

The Elective Residence Visa does not allow the holder to work, neither autonomously nor remotely, therefore, you should evaluate the Investor Visa route.
