Is there a deadline for submitting applications to convert residency permits to work permits? What would I need?
The possibility to convert a residency permit and the procedure to do so may vary depending on the title of stay that the person holds: e.g., a person who holds a residence permit for the purpose of studying and has graduated from a university in Italy may convert their residence permit into a work one before the expiration date of their current permit, provided that they have at least a binding offer from an employer.
It is possible to convert residency permits to work permits, even though I do not see the reason. Anyway, applications to convert permits must be submitted three months before they expire and have to be accompanied by a copy of an employment contract and a copy of a house rent contract.
Not all residence permits can be converted into a work permit and, in some cases, the conversion is subject to the availability of quotas, which are issued every year by the government.
