I obtained my long-term stay permit last year after getting a job offer as a contractor at a local company in Bulgaria. My permit is still valid. Can I change employers or become self-employed without risking my status in Bulgaria?
If you are changing your employer, you will need to obtain another work permit for this particular employer. Obviously, there is some risk associated. In case you are not able to obtain a work permit for the new employer, your residence rights will be canceled and you will have to leave the country.
