How can I relocate to Portugal with my family through the establishment of a textile business?

I am a textile business owner from Pakistan who is interested in developing my business in Portugal and moving there with my family (spouse and four children, ages 20, 18, 16, and 13.) I am looking at the business visa route. Under this visa, can I start a company in Portugal to import textile products from my factory in Pakistan and sell them in Portuguese stores/shops/retailers, etc.? What is the process of applying for a business visa (immigration route 2)? How much time does it usually take to complete the process? How much should I expect to pay in total fees?

The D2 visa route would be an option to relocate to Portugal, with the possibility of family reunification (at the same time or at a later stage). Timing and costs depend on your specific case, business plan, etc. In regard to your business model, please note that your business plan will be analyzed by the immigration authorities having in mind the potential benefits and value it brings to Portugal.

In your case, if you want to open a business in Portugal, the better route would probably be the D2 residence visa. However, we would need to have more detailed information about your whole situation to understand whether there are other alternatives that might be more interesting in the short-term. Regarding your family, this would also have to be analyzed. It would always depend on whether you want your family to come with you to Portugal or if you came first and they would come later. The process at this point can take between 6 and 10 months. As for the fees, it would certainly depend on which route is most suitable for your particular case.

The Portuguese Golden Visa program itself will continue to exist. You can relocate to Portugal with your family through the establishment of a textile business by setting up or entering the share capital of existing companies, alongside the creation of jobs and a minimum investment of €500.000, with the creation or maintenance of employment jobs, with a minimum of five permanent jobs, and for a minimum period of three years.

It is possible to relocate to Portugal based on the establishment of a business. The adequate program will be the D2, which starts at the local consulate with the request of a residency visa based on a company incorporation and business plan. This program also allows family reunification.
