I have conducted research that I think will be beneficial to the economy and climate of the UAE, so I want to be able to apply for a golden visa and launch my idea there. Is this possible or do I have to be nominated? Can my university nominate me?

You might be eligible as an entrepreneur or start up founder in case there is: (i) approval of the startup idea from an official "business incubator" or from the UAE Ministry of Economy; (ii) approval from Dubai Future Authority that the project is of a technical or future nature. Plus proof of home ownership or rental, valid health insurance.
