How long does it take to obtain a Greek Golden Visa?

I am considering applying for a Greek Golden visa. I have a friend who submitted his application last month. According to him, there is a long queue of applicants waiting to take biometrics appointments. He was told to wait for another six months. I want to know that if I submit my application now, when will I be able to get my Golden Visa?

The process can take few months, but if you submit now you may be granted a blue paper that is like a visa. After that, one or two months may be required.

This is a very difficult question. It all depends on the region. Sometimes it takes a month and some other times it can take six months. But when applying you receive a document which gives you already the right to use the Golden Visa in Greece (not to travel to other countries of Shenghen, where you will still need a regular visa).

Please be aware that currently, due to a high volume of petitions, there is an approximate estimated time period of one year for obtaining a Golden Visa in Greece.

The Greece Golden Visa program enables an entire non-EU family, including dependent children up to age 24 and the parents of both spouses, to obtain permanent resident status in Greece within just three months (in some areas it takes less time) with a real estate investment of just 250,000 euros. It is a competitive permanent residency scheme in Europe.

Following the legal procedure, the Golden Visa application can only be submitted to the authority after all the procedures of acquiring a property has been completed and relevant taxes paid. The faster the implementation of property acquisition, the earlier the appointment settlement date. An appointment needs to be scheduled with a branch of the Ministry of Migration Policy in advance. The location where you submit your application and biometrics data is the key. Within Athens, at this moment, the related appointments are delayed due to backlogs and the large quantity of applications. However, following a recent legal amendment, applications for resident permits for property owners can be submitted to any authority of the Ministry of Migration Policy outside Athens. This ensures better time framework so there is no need to worry. In any case, at the time of submission a temporary resident permit is issued and within a two-month period afterwards, the permanent resident permit is ready.
