What is the current status of Bulgaria's CBI program?

I've heard that the Bulgarian government intends to impose a ban on the country's CBI program. Is the proposed amendment to the Bulgarian Citizenship Act expected to pass? What will be the fate of ongoing applications if the ban takes effect?

The Bulgarian CBI program is up and running. There are and there have been many attempts and rumors that the program will be put on hold. However, in March 2021, the law was successfully amended and there is no reason to be amended again, in 7 months after its launch. At the same time, however, EU citizenship by investment is becoming more and more difficult to obtain. With the demise of the Cypriot program, the Bulgarian and the Maltese programs are the only available options today, and they are under strict monitoring by the EU commission. I believe that EU investment citizenship is at its last stage of being available to (almost) everyone who has the required capital and resources. Those who don’t get on the train in the next 6-to-12 months may miss the last opportunity to become EU citizens.
