Portugal doesn't have a specific visa for the climate-conscious investor; however, there are some investment funds that make sustainable investments in farmland and can grant access to the golden visa. For innovation-loving investors, Portugal has the startup visa, that allows you to obtain a residence card by creating your own startup.

Unfortunately, the Portuguese golden visa program does not foresee any kind of investment directed to those specific subjects. The only kind of investment that could suit your intentions, even if indirectly, would be the capital transfer with a value equal to or above 350,000 euros for investing in research activities conducted by public or private scientific research institutions involved in the national scientific or technological system.

Climate conscious and innovation loving investors can get the golden visa by looking at green and blue projects such as by making 500,000 euro investment in scientific or technological research activities; acquisition of participation units in investment funds or venture capital funds dedicated to the capitalization of companies for 500,000 euros; establishment or reinforcement of companies with 500,000 euros and creating 5 jobs; 250,000 euros investment for artistic production, recovery or maintenance of the national cultural heritage.
