When is Japan expected to ease travel and residency options for foreign investors?

Many countries are announcing an end to COVID/Omicron related restrictions; is Japan expected to follow the same path soon and open up its borders to foreigners who want to live in the country in the short and long term?

Japan will ease travel restrictions from March 1 and allow visa applications with a certificate for completion of registration to the ERFS system, obtained by a receiving organization in Japan through an online application to the Health Ministry. The above measure only applies to business people, workers, students and others except tourists. No change has been made in the policy to accept investors and residents.
