Masahito Nakai is a Japan immigration lawyer. He is currently the managing partner of Nakai Immigration Services LPC, based in Tokyo. The firm employs 20 staff from eight countries around the world and also maintains a branch in Osaka. Nakai Immigration practices various immigration matters — such as work permits, permanent residency, certificates of authorized employment — and other procedures like naturalization, company formation and license applications. Nakai Immigration employs a New York state-registered attorney and has a former director general of the Tokyo immigration bureau as a special adviser.

Nakai, a practicing attorney since 1992, is the founder of the Japan Immigration Law Practitioners Association, which started in 2011. He served as its chair until July 2018. It is Japan’s largest immigration lawyer organization, with more than 110 members.

Nakai has been a speaker at various immigration conferences. He is the co-author of “Guidebook for International Marriage,” which Japanese immigration lawyers retain as a reference.

Nakai is a member of the Gyoseishoshi Lawyers Association and International Bar Association. He has a bachelor’s degree from Hokkaido University and a certificate in international legal studies from the Japanese campus of Temple University.

Nakai speaks Japanese and English.
