Who needs to provide proof of English language proficiency to invest in the New Zealand investor 2 resident visa?

I am from the Philippines and I want to apply for the New Zealand investor 2 resident visa. English is extensively used in our country. Do I have to provide proof of English proficiency if I apply? What are the requirements?

Short answer is, yes. Minimum IELTS 3.0 overall score or equivalent of other acceptable tests. However, the applicant gets more points for a higher level of English language knowledge.

The documentation you need to provide depends on the number of points you want to claim for your English language ability (as a principal applicant). Dependents must also show proof of English language ability. It is possible to show English language proficiency by showing you have an English language background (BF2.1) or other proof you meet the requirements. However, in my experience an English language test is often the easiest way to prove you meet the requirements.
