What can I expect after I submit my Greek Golden Visa application?

I just submitted my Greek Golden Visa application last week through a migration agency. What should I expect as the next step? What is the timeline? The agency told me to wait but I want to be fully prepared.

You hired professionals to be advised. As far as the timeline, wait up to three months and everything would come as you wish.

Depends on the current immigration office. Normally two to three months.

If there is any need for any documentation they will call you or your lawyer within one month from the filing of the application. The timeline for the decision should be two months.

Please be aware that after submitting the petition, there is a waiting period of up to 10 months before having an appointment with the competent office to check your petition. After that, you will schedule a personal appointment for an interview and if all documentation, etc. is OK, then you will receive your Golden Visa certificate.

If your lawyer submitted all documents required by law, then there should be no issues at all. As far as the time frame is concerned, I can’t really tell you since it depends on the specific location where the property is located and which authority is competent (geographically) to go through your application. It can take from one to 12 months.

Since Feb. 20, 2017, the new procedure for granting non EU-EEC nationals resident permits in Greece was launched, pursuant to Regulation (EC) 380/2008, under which all EU member-states will issue an electronic residence permit, which will replace the sticker, typically affixed in a valid passport. The authorities receiving the application will issue a confirmation (temporary resident permit or blue card) that the application has been submitted, provided that all the necessary documentation has been submitted with the application. This confirmation is valid for one year and it constitutes an evidencing document until the resident permit is issued. The owner of the real estate property is not affected by the duration of the processing of their application, from the moment the application is submitted to the relevant authorities until the issuing of a decision by the secretary general of the decentralized authority regarding their resident permit, since he has received the temporary resident permit. The time required to process the application depends on the authority where it has been submitted, yet it may not exceed two months after all the necessary documents have reached the competent authority. If the application is filed by an appointed attorney, in the absence of the interested investor, then written notification will be given for the applicant to define a specific date for submitting his biometric data, required for the issue of the resident permit, in consultation with his attorney, so that this date is convenient for the applicant and in any case within six months.

Provided that nothing was missing from the supporting documents filed with your application, you must have already received a blue card, which is sort of a temporary residence permit. With this document, you have the ability to travel from and to Greece, but not to the other countries of the EU. This blue card lasts one year, but can be renewed depending on circumstances. However, it is not expected that you wait for so long, as it is estimated that at about two to three months (depending on the immigration office that you filed your application with), you will receive your Golden Visa. Of course, prior to that you must have completed the biometrics data collection (if you have not done that already).
