All travelers from visa waiver countries will be able to travel to New Zealand from May 1, 2022 onwards. Travelers from non-visa waiver countries can only travel to New Zealand if they already have a visitor visa. If they do not yet have a visitor visa, they will have to wait until processing of visitor visas resumes later this year.

Has New Zealand brought forward the date of reopening its borders to all international travelers?

New Zealand has announced that from May 1, 2022, the border will open for travelers from visa waiver countries and for the existing (onshore and offshore) holders of valid visitor visas. From October 2022, visa processing resumes for all categories, including visitor and student visas, unless the visa is closed or paused. Therefore, all travelers would be allowed in the country from October 2022.
