UK allows registered EU citizens to stay until transition period ends

As Brexit is happening today, UK has said it will let the 3.5 million EU citizens already living in the UK stay as long as they register with the EU settlement scheme. However, after UK’s transition period is over on Dec. 31 this year, the UK government has announced it might consider implementing a points-based immigration system, similar to Australia and Canada.
