Séguin is a founding member of the Canadian nonprofit For the Refugees. Founded in 2016, the organization fights for the rights of political refugees and asylum seekers. For the Refugees provides free legal support, media relations and raises money for living expenses and relocation costs.

Séguin is a licensed attorney in Quebec and New York state. He is a graduate of McGill University Law School with degrees in civil law and common law. Séguin also has a master’s in Asian legal studies from the National University of Singapore.

In addition to English, Séguin speaks French, Spanish and is learning Chinese.
