Daniel Cashdan is a real estate investment advisor who has developed and marketed institutional real estate products for more than 30 years. Currently, Cashdan is the president and managing principal of HFF Securities L.P., the real estate investment banking affiliate of HFF commercial real estate firm. He is also co-head of HFF’s Global Capital Team.

Cashdan is responsible for business development, managing client relationships, and raising equity capital. He is also responsible for the firm’s relationships throughout Asia, identifying capital and investors looking for global diversification.

Joining HFF Securities in 2004, Cashdan has worked for the Los Angeles-based company for 14 years. Previously, he was a senior vice president at AEW Capital Management for eight years, and he was a partner and managing director with Chadwick, Saylor & Co. for seven years. Before that, he was president of Real Asset Management Inc. for four years. Also, Cashdan founded and was chairman and the CEO of RealEnergy, a clean-tech energy firm focused on the real estate industry.

Listed among Cashdan’s notable multimillion-dollar transactions: recapitalized a 57-property apartment portfolio located throughout the Sunbelt states; arranged equity for a nationwide multifamily development program with Asian capital.

Cashdan is a trustee with the Urban Land Institute (ULI), a nonprofit organization that advocates responsible land use, smart growth, and creating sustainable communities throughout the world. He’s also a member of the Pension Real Estate Association (PREA), a nonprofit trade association for the real estate investment industry.

Cashdan holds a Master of Business Administration (MBA) from the University of Chicago. He earned a Bachelor of Science (BS) degree in real estate finance at the University of Southern California. Cashdan speaks English and Mandarin.
